Incident Overview

As described in the incident timeline and reported in Bug 3370, on February 7, 2021, we recorded a large number of new versions for Facebook Notes records due to a significant change to the API (Application Programming Interface) response from Facebook. See the timeline update of February 7, 2021 for an example of the change. Facebook Notes are no longer supported by the Graph API, new Facebook Notes records can not be created and Facebook has transitioned the feature to read-only mode.

 

Facebook posts affected by this bug will be tagged with “i_04_3370.” The Social Media Archiving web application will continue to consider these posts deleted, there is an open bug to address removing the deleted tag once we know it has been applied incorrectly. To view archives without the presence of these duplicate posts, users can filter results on the incident tag: “i_04_3370.”

    • The Product Team completes MOP to apply i_04_3370 to all existing impacted records, per request in Bug 3408: Implement Incident Tag to 'Deleted' Facebook Notes. 82,776 entries were tagged and the results were verified.

    • The Product Team begins MOP to apply i_04_3370 to all existing impacted records, per request in Bug 3408: Implement Incident Tag to 'Deleted' Facebook Notes
  • [Update] March 8, 2021
    • The Product Team applies the incident tag (“i_04_3370”) to affected records for the customer (id: 2221)
  • [Update] March 4, 2021
    • The Customer Experience Team requests incident tagging for the impacted customer (id: 2221)
  • [Update] March 3, 2021
    • The Social Media Archiving Development Team completes research on the issue, the decision is made to tag affected content per customer by request from the Customer Experience Team
  • [Update] February 24, 2021
    • Bug 3370 is logged with user confused by new versions of Facebook Notes created on February 7, 2021, obfuscating their search results
  • [Update] February 7, 2021
    • New versions of Facebook Notes are captured for all customers. Facebook changes response from previous versions
